Lamar, secretary of the Pentecostal Assembly of God (Auburn, NE), asking AG leaders to help Walter Rue claim conscientious objector status -- Draft registration card for Walter Rue (Jun 5, 1917) -- Newspaper article documenting that Rue and his pastor, Leonard Dieffenwierth, were dunked in a public watering trough by soldiers in Auburn because of Rue's position against the war (Manhandled for Talking: Auburn Ministers Punished by Soldiers of Company D for Remarks Concerning Guardsmen, Lincoln Journal Star, Jul 21, 1917, p. 5) -- Information about Rue's death (Sep 27, 1918) while serving as a soldier.
